From July 22nd to 27th, the 10th Shanghai International Symposium on Nonlinear Science and Applications was held at China University of Mining and Technology. This symposium was hosted by Shanghai Society for Nonlinear Science and China University of Mining and Technology, and co-organized by the School of Mathematics of China University of Mining and Technology, Jiangsu Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology), Jiangsu Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Interdisciplinary Frontier Research Center for Active Matter and Complex Networks, Laboratory of Basic Theory and Key Technology for Intelligent Complex Systems of Fudan University, School of Mathematical Sciences of Fudan University and Shanghai Mathematical Center. Cai Shihua, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the forum. Huang Guoxiang, Chairman of the Conference and Director of Shanghai Society for Nonlinear Science, Lin Wei, Co-Chairman of the Conference, Secretary-General of Shanghai Society for Nonlinear Science and from Fudan University, Rong Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematics, and experts and scholars from all over the world attended the forum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Fan Shengjun, Dean of the School of Mathematics.
Cai Shihua delivered a welcome speech. He briefly introduced the history and development of our university, pointing out that under the strategic goal of "strengthening basic disciplines" in the construction of the university's Double First-Class, the School of Mathematics has developed by leaps and bounds, and the construction of mathematics discipline has achieved remarkable results. He said that this conference has built a platform for exchange and learning for nonlinear science and applications and their experts and scholars. He hoped that the participating guests would make full use of this valuable opportunity to in-depth discuss the latest research results and future development trends in this field, and contribute to promoting the development of nonlinear science.
Huang Guoxiang and Lin Wei expressed their gratitude to China University of Mining and Technology for their care and support, and welcomed the participating guests. They pointed out that nonlinear science, as one of the most dynamic and potential research fields in the 21st century, is leading the profound transformation of science and technology. As an academic organization in this field, Shanghai Society for Nonlinear Science focuses on the frontier trends of nonlinear theory exploration, innovative method research and applications, and strives to unite experts and scholars in this field at home and abroad to jointly promote the further development of nonlinear science and application research.
This symposium arranged 15 plenary reports and more than 70 parallel reports. Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, Professor Celso Grebogi from the University of Aberdeen, UK, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, Professor Jürgen Kurths from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany, Professor Chen Luonan from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xiao Yanni from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Tang Yang from East China University of Science and Technology, Professor Albert Goldbeter from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium, Professor Yan Gang from Tongji University, Professor Xu Yong from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Professor Lyu Xin from National University of Defense Technology, Professor Wu Tailin from Westlake University, Professor Zheng Shuangjia from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Kazuyuki Aihara from the University of Tokyo, Japan, Professor Ulrike Feudel from the University of Oldenburg, Germany, Professor Miguel Sanjuán from King Juan Carlos University, Spain, and Professor Wen Guanghui from Southeast University gave special reports successively. Experts and scholars actively exchanged their research results and current academic development trends around their respective research directions and research methods adopted. The plenary reports were presided over by Professor Sun Yongzheng from the School of Mathematics of our university, Professor Xiao Dongmei from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Ma Huanfei from Soochow University, Professor Qin Bowei from Fudan University, Professor Zhou Peijie from Peking University, Professor Luo Qiang from Fudan University, Professor Xia Chengyi from Tianjin Polytechnic University, Professor Leng Siyang from Fudan University, Professor Liu Maosheng from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, etc. The parallel reports of the conference were held in the School of Mathematics, covering topics such as nonlinear dynamical systems, data dynamics, complex networks, biological mathematics, nonlinear brain dynamics, etc., attracting 72 scholars from the field of nonlinear science to conduct in-depth exchanges on the latest research results, future development trends and wide applications of nonlinear science.
It is reported that since its first held in 2003, the Shanghai International Symposium on Nonlinear Science and Applications has gradually become an influential academic exchange conference in the field of nonlinear science. The holding of this conference has provided a high-standard and in-depth academic exchange platform for experts and scholars at home and abroad, further promoting the development of nonlinear science research. At the same time, it has injected new impetus into the vigorous development of the School of Mathematics of our university and is of great significance to discipline construction, scientific research, talent training and other aspects.
