Plenary Report

From November 4th to 6th, the Academic and Management Committee Meeting of Jiangsu Provincial Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology) and the High-end Forum on Frontiers and Interdisciplinary Applications of Applied Mathematics was held in Xuzhou. The conference was hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology) and the School of Mathematics of China University of Mining and Technology, and co-organized by the Jiangsu Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the Jiangsu Operations Research Society. Qin Fei, Deputy Director of Xuzhou Science and Technology Bureau; Professor Qin Hourong from Nanjing University; Professor Tang Shanjian from Fudan University; Professor Cao Jinde from Southeast University; Professor Zhu Shixin from Hefei University of Technology; Chairman Feng Yu from China Coal Market Network; Deputy Director Wang Dong of Jiangsu Huaihai Science and Technology City; Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology; Professor Cao Dexin, former Vice President and from the School of Mathematics; Professor Fan Shengjun, Dean of the School of Mathematics; and relevant responsible comrades from the University's Research Institute, National University Science Park, Carbon Neutrality Research Institute, Jiangsu Provincial Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology) and other units attended the conference. Professor Chen Zengjing from Shandong University, Director of the Academic Committee of the Center, presided over the meeting.

At the opening ceremony, Bian Zhengfu extended a welcome to all guests on behalf of the university and expressed gratitude to the leaders and experts who have long supported and cared about the development of the university. He emphasized that strengthening the construction of basic disciplines such as mathematics plays a crucial role in promoting the high-quality development of science and engineering universities. The university has continuously increased support for basic disciplines through the investment of central university basic scientific research business funds and discipline construction funds, and continuously promoted the development of related disciplines. He hoped that the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology), under the guidance of the Academic Committee and the Management Committee, would give full play to its professional advantages in big data, artificial intelligence, optimization and control, and contribute to the university's basic scientific research, talent training, and service to local economic development.

After the opening ceremony, a report on the construction of the center and a construction seminar were held. Sun Yongzheng gave a detailed report on the progress made by the center in venue construction, team building, scientific and technological services, and achievement transformation since June 2022, and shared the center's future development plan. The participating experts spoke highly of the construction achievements of the center since its establishment, fully affirmed the progress in venue construction and achievement transformation, and hoped that the center could further rely on the university's characteristic advantages in the field of energy and resources, actively serve the national energy security strategy, continuously deepen technical services and achievement transformation, and continuously improve innovation capabilities.

At the same time, the High-end Forum on Frontiers and Interdisciplinary Applications of Applied Mathematics was held, with 4 plenary reports and 27 parallel reports. Zhu Shixin, Cao Jinde, Qin Hourong, and Feng Yu delivered plenary reports successively, actively exchanging their research directions and academic achievements around the frontier and interdisciplinary fields of applied mathematics. In the parallel report session, experts and scholars from many well-known domestic and foreign universities such as the Santa Fe Institute in the United States, the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as relevant responsible persons from the Carbon Neutrality Research Institute, the School of Mining Engineering, and the Center of China University of Mining and Technology, conducted in-depth discussions on the latest progress and innovative academic achievements in the fields of intelligent optimization, network dynamics, mathematics in transportation, and interdisciplinary research of "mathematics - mining - safety".

The convening of this conference marks that the construction of the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Applied Mathematics (China University of Mining and Technology) has entered a new stage of development, which is of great value to comprehensively enhance the comprehensive strength of the center and is of great significance to promoting the high-quality development of the mathematics discipline of the university.
